who is who?
 
Vincenzo Jannuzzi, in art Jan,
 
or Janù, as he otherwise signs himself, is a creative, prolific and eccentric, 
irreducible "cartooner" that moves on the underground stage
since more than 30 years, and doesn't show any sign of wanting to stop.
 
His funny, 
erothic and satyric skatches production that gets along with short 
strips, tales and illustrations, make of him from the beginning an author 
capable of spacing from horror to children-entertainment with the same creativity 
and intensity. Author of a large number of works, on different supports, attests 
a genial and generous production always in search of new expressive ways and techniques 
 
Born in 1946, genuary the 4th, in Spezzano Albanese, a small town where still 
two languages are spoken, like 600 years ago, perched on the Sila mountains, in 
 
Cosenza district, in Calabria, south of Italy.
When we approach 
him he expresses a cretivity that invests us in the same way it does the color/warmth 
of his land of origin; south land of sun and wine, of corn and beauty so longed 
during the centuries, not only by artists and intellectuals; non only by europeans.
His first editorial enterprises took rather place in his second native country: the "Ovadese" hills, in Piemonte, north of Italy.
Tales of red hearth, 
good wine and old "partigiani", before a "take off", on an 
interminable, millions of kilometers long road that after the '60 will take him 
to land to Rome first, and finally established him in Milan.
 
In his early cartoons 
adventures, his sign expresses wiith an incisive and syntethic caracther, through 
the most variated techniques, including the most humble daily means such as ball- 
pen, china ink, oil chark, water color, gouache, acrilic,etc. .It's the juvenile 
period, where a broken sign prevails. The color-sign, a nervous outline that confers 
plasticity to the figures often grazing an expressionist distortion. 
 It's the period 
of the "crithic of the sign", the black and white cartoons period.
While air-brush 
and mixed technics mark the '80ies, with a paint brush more and more sensual and 
refined applies to any kind of support, from carton to plexiglass.
The i '80ies are 
the years of the cartonage, of the l collage and of the daily waste domestic recycling 
matherials, where abstraction prevails on figurative; the years of the approaching 
to virtual and computer application to art, with its numberless resources. 
Boards, 
bas-reliefs and serigraphy, and publication that renew themself on the internationl 
set. 
The teaching experience represents the occasion of approaching the publicity media world, design and interior design, withe the creation of aero-mobile objects, and estethic furnishing objects, that captured light and air motion through recycling waste home matherials.
The '90ies find 
him participating as a protagonist the hip-hop culture; with huge proportions 
"murale" that spray throughout the city. His native town, in 2001 conferes 
him the freedom of the city, and in 2003 he'll participate to the organization 
and realization of the festival

in n Milano, together with 
Matteo 
Guarnaccia, Marco Teatro,
Chris 
Cardinale,Seth Tobocman, 
Mac 
McGill and many other most representative international authors of the moment 
he 
re-interpretes  Apollinaire and
Grimmelhausen, 
his interests and thematics soace out from history to natural and social sciences, 
from leisure to music. An author that has to be read in his most proper cosmopolitan 
kee. That has travelled from France to Anatol, from Greece to Finnland, to Iraq, 
with all theese culture dialoguing, open to conceptual and estethical innovation 
Jannuzzi 
reveals himself capable of offering us imaginary worlds concretely and surprisingly 
built, for this he's an artist: he takes us into his tales; and the more he sticks 
to them, the more he makes you appreciate its poetry, while grasping the surreal 
and paradoxal aspects of his tales' reality,
